Shutter is designed to help users protect on-screen privacy using an overlay mask. We are committed to minimal data collection and transparent permission usage.

We do not collect personal identity data such as your name, phone number, or private content from your device screen. The app stores only local preferences on your device, such as selected mode, style settings, controller visibility, and sensitivity preferences.

Shutter requests only the permissions needed to provide core functionality:

* Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Required to show the privacy mask on top of other apps. * Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE): Required to keep overlay controls stable while running. * Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to show service status and controls. * Boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Used only to restore app behavior after device restart if previously enabled.

We use local app settings only to: * Start and manage the privacy overlay. * Remember your visual and control preferences. * Improve reliability of app behavior on your device.

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties. We do not use your overlay content for analytics or profiling.

Preference data is stored locally on your device and remains until you clear app data or uninstall the app.

We follow reasonable security practices and keep data handling minimal by design.

Shutter is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

You can: * Revoke permissions in device settings. * Disable the service any time. * Clear app data or uninstall the app to remove local settings.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any updates will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
